The private cinema, once a twentieth century icon of the Jet set, has been reimagined as a part of Timothy Oulton’s London flagship store at Bluebird. Known for their iconic experiential designs, British furniture and interiors company Timothy Oulton have teamed up with world-renowned audio-visual maestros Bang and Olufsen to create the ultimate home theatre experience, enlisting Timothy Oulton Studio to create and design the space.
Setting a tone of intrigue and drama from the outset, The Theatre is revealed via a secret entrance disguised inside a sentry box, a playful nod to the Queen’s Guard outside Buckingham Palace. Behind the black velvet curtain lies a luxurious lair of escapism, an all-enveloping, multi-sensorial treat which combines and contrasts the most luxurious of finishes with raw textured materials in a soft palette of hues to create a relaxed atmosphere of absolute sophistication
Once inside, patrons can experience the latest Bang & Olufsen audio-visuals from a suite of sumptuous leather motion recliners, complimented with alabaster drinks tables between the chairs which are lit from below to accentuate the beautiful natural veining of the milky white alabaster.
As you recline a ceiling of Riley inspired Op Art wallpaper adds a dynamic canopy to the space, while the statement lighting of the Night Rod floor lamps adds romance and sparkle.
The walls are padded with natural linen and slatted century-old reclaimed timber, with hidden LEDs at the top and bottom of each wall emanating a soft glow. Six complimentary softly glowing selenite wall sconces allow glimpses of the dark textured fabric wallpaper behind to create a mellow and inviting atmosphere.
All floating on a carpet of shaggy, plush lambswool which adds warmth below the feet, beckoning you to kick back and enjoy the film. Together this heady mix of materials enriches the cocooning effect of the space while also offering acoustic benefits to elevate the overall experience, setting the scene for a great night in.
